I made it!!

This was the hardest thing I have ever done and will probably go down in my personal history as both the worst and the best experience of my life.. It was a slog from start to finish and an emotional journey too.. Reaching the summit was such a relief and surely going down would be easy? from the moment I left the summit, I knew I was in trouble.. my legs were like jelly and I was soon left behind the main group to struggle down alone.. I made it to just over half way down, when my hero of the day arrived, Tony, a member of the Mountain Rescue Team but today acting as a guide for our group.. For the next quarter of the mountain, he supported and encouraged me to keep putting one foot in front of the other.. no easy thing when your legs refuse to obey commands from your head.. at times the poor guy had to support my full weight as I attempted to scramble down. When Tony realised it would take us another 3 hours to get off the mountain he called for back up in the shape of Sean, Stuart and Jim (a monster of a man!). Jim piggy backed me over rocks at a run!!! Stuart then helped him frog march me and Sean and Tony took their turns at either supporting me or carrying my rucksack. My absolute thanks go to you guys. Finally after 6 hours (longer than it took me to get up!) we reached the finish line where my team members Lisa and Angela had stayed to wait for me and cheer me over the finish line.. Poor Lisa had been there for 3 hours in the dark and cold..

Weirdly I quite enjoyed pushing my body to such an extreme.. but I think I will wait a while before doing it again!
