Story
Updated (7th June) ... thanks for supporting and reading this.
We must be nuts.
Put 9 guys in a minibus and set out to climb the 5 tallest peaks in UK and Ireland:
… 1,300+ miles of driving
… 17,700+ feet in height
… in just 100 hours.
… at the same time, raise about £5,500 for our chosen charities (the JustGiving pages are still open at www.justgiving.com/fivepeaks-it and www.justgiving.com/fivepeaks-mc – “go on … you know you want to”).
A wonderful, wonderful 6 days.
I think we all agree this was an absolutely fantastic experience and with many challenges along the way:
Logistically – different locations each night, food for each person, ferry crossings to be met, minibus driving, etc.
Physically – exhausted by walking, climbing, singing, being cramped in a minibus, loss of sleep, etc.
Emotionally – increasing tiredness and being away from families for an extended period (not to mention being cooped up with some of these guys), etc
Spiritually – the challenges of finding what kind of a legacy this experience might leave with each of us and what we have to do to find what God wants for us.
Despite these serious “challenges”, I’ve never laughed so much. What a great bunch of guys – everyone one of them different and every one of them a star !

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Several of us are reaching significant birthdays over the next few months and as a way of celebrating life, we've decided to set a challenge and at the same time, try to support several charities that are close to our hearts.
Our challenge is to complete the "5 peaks challenge" in 5 days during early June 2012 - climb the highest mountains in Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland and Northern Ireland. A total of 17,368 feet in altitude, approximately 37 miles in distance and over 1,300 miles of driving.
The team comprises: Keith Crawford, Stephen McMechan, Dave Whitcroft, Gary Steenson, Robin Jamison, Mark Smyth, and Peter Shields supported by John Boyd and Philip Cupples.
We are planning to raise funds for 2 charities that have been important to us over the past 18 months - Marie Curie and International Teams (India Quest). All funds raised will go towards these charities.
