Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Finn O'Mahony has played rugby for Beaconsfield Rugby Club since the age of 4, all the way up to and including a recent epic debut with his dad. Over the years he has also represented Bucks and the Royal Grammar School in High Wycombe where he finished this year. He is an extremely popular team-mate and invaluable player in all the teams he represents.

When he started to experience discomfort in his knee over the past few months he put it down to a niggling rugby injury, brushed it off and continued to play on, just as you would expect from a nuggety front row player with strong Munster roots! It was therefore a huge shock to Finn, Noel, Nikki, Molly and his extended family when he was told he had cancer in his knee. Instead of heading off to uni in Nottingham, like the rest of his mates, he is now beating cancer. As you would expect treatment has been tough with covid making things even tougher, limiting interactions with friends and family. The next round of the battle will see Finn having his knee replaced. Although the surgeon says this will curtail his playing days, those who know, and have played with him, are not so sure even this will stop him!

Five for Finn is a fun initiative to encourage as many people as possible to run, walk, cycle, swim etc. 5km & share their stories and pictures for Finn to have a laugh at. We hope the new community we build amongst his friends, family & others that contribute to F³ both in the UK and in Ireland put a smile on his face and keep his spirits high. This is our primary aim.

Along the way we hope to raise some funds for Teenage Cancer Trust who are helping Finn win this battle. They rely totally on donations as they do not receive any funding from the government or the NHS so please contribute what you can.
