Story
We have a huge goal to achieve here at Fitz, this year! Can you help us?
Buy a brick for just £5!
Did you know that FitzWimarc is one of the lowest funded schools in Essex? As such, we need to fundraise for every improvement for our students and this year, with the ongoing COVID restrictions in place, we must ensure that students can interact safely with their peers.
We need to protect students from the elements so that they can enjoy outside space around our school during wintery conditions, or from harmful UVA rays.
The solution to our problem is... Canopies!
We need to raise £90,000, in order to have canopies installed around the site, and will be fundraising this year to achieve just that!
The school is laid out over a vast area and there is no choice but to venture outside to move from one block to another, during the school day. There is constant movement resulting in exposure to the elements on a regular basis. During rest periods, students are encouraged to spend time outside for physical exercise and also for mental well-being; this is an important time to be able to socialise with their peers. Picnic benches are cold and wet and in wet or severe weather conditions, the field is inaccessible.
The Dining Hall block can only accommodate so many students, and even less with COVID restrictions now in place. This means that students need to queue up outside as they await entry for break or lunch; this building is flanked by the school field and a particularly cold area with no cover or shade at all.
Elsewhere on the site, protection is needed in order for safe movement and relaxation. The area outside the Technology Department has no protection and is used as students take a morning break, and at lunch. The walkway leading from the field to the main building is a particularly wet and windy area, again there is no option but the walk through, moving to and from lessons. This area has benches that are used at break and lunchtime; these cannot be used in wet weather. In the current COVID landscape, these canopies, out in the fresh air, will also provide a much safer environment for pupils, reducing the all-important chance of virus transmission.
The installation of canopies is an ideal solution as these would provide adequate shade and cover, enabling students to spend the maximum amount of time outside and protect them whilst ‘on the move’ during start/end of lessons.
By transforming our outside spaces with hard wearing canopies, we can enhance our campus with outside learning and dining areas, efficient shelter between classrooms and high performing sun protection.
These canopies will also offer an opportunity to become part of the physical legacy of the FitzWimarc School.
What can you do ? - We are looking for sponsorship of £5 per brick. We are looking for both individual sponsors and commercial sponsors.
How many bricks can you help us with?” - All donors are asked to leave their name or company name when making payment. When the canopies are installed, we will include a legacy wall with all the names and donors. The bigger the contribution, the bigger the name!
If you include your name in your donation, it will be added to the artwork planned for the canopies on a brick. Bricks start at £5 each, and we welcome larger donations of multiple bricks, giving your name more prominence. We believe this will be a beautiful, long-lasting display and a great presentation of FitzWimarc's much-valued community, to be admired for years to come.
Any monies raised beyond the £90,000 target (or if we do not meet the target) will go into school funds and be used only for outside space to improve pupil wellbeing.
Can you offer your support to our fundraising? We look forward to hearing from you.
