Story

Hello and welcome to my fundraising page.

I have set myself a challenge - I am taking part in the TCS London Marathon 2022! I will be running for Lymphoma Action as I am lucky enough to have received one of their guaranteed places! This being my first, I have always wanted to run in a marathon and this is an amazing opportunity for me to do so.

My story

I have chosen this charity as someone close to my heart has been battling with Lymphoma for over 10 years now and she is still trooping on. This person is my Mum xxx She was first diagnosed with Follicular Lymphoma back in February 2012. Absolutely heart-breaking news and I would not wish this on anyone. My Mum went through numerous Chemotherapy Rituximab, Cyclophosphamide, Vincristine and Prednisone sessions. All those sessions took its toll on her body but during all of this, she was still working full time and enjoying life to the best of her ability.

Moving onto November 2012, my Mum had a harvest of stem cells frozen which were then given back to her in 2014. Fast forward to May 2017, more lumps were found and she was put back on the drugs. Rituximab and Zevalin worked its magic and finally got rid of those lumps. This was incredibly good news.

During the first lockdown, we received bad news. In April 2020, Mum found another lump. This time, in her leg. After lockdown, Mum was finally referred to Bournemouth Hospital. After successful different tests, Mum got accepted onto a clinical trial in September 2020 - Amazing news!! During this time, she will be on Zanubrutinib tablets and then heading into hospital for her Obinutuzumab infusion. In July 2021, Mum received some devastating news from the doctors - the disease has got more aggressive. That was a lot for my Mum to digest after going through the previous years of different treatment and my Mum felt really deflated. This clinical trial will end in September 2022 and not long after that, I’ll be running the marathon in her honour.

From the day my Mum got diagnosed until now, she remains in extremely high spirits. I want to show my support towards her and do something which is out of my comfort zone. The furthest I have run is 10K. I am skipping doing a half marathon and heading straight into doing a full marathon and I am sure over the months of training I’ll be clocking up the mileage.

I am looking forward to competing in the TCS London Marathon 2022 and I really appreciate the support in advance which will be going towards the charity I have chosen - Lymphoma Action.

Thank you for reading my story and let the training commence!
