Story
Fishing for Wishes started and is based around Lowesoft, Suffolk and has been going since 2013. We run the event every 2 years rather than yearly. Our crazy idea was to run a sea fishing match for all abilities while dressing all anglers as Santa Claus and filling the beach with festive tents to capture a magical day for a magical cause. Back in 2013 we aimed to raise around £1000 for the magical charity Make-a-Wish foundation UK who grant wishes to seriously sick children, however the idea was so incredibly supported by the public and sea fishing community we ended up raising a whopping £7200. Why do we dress as Santa you may ask? well Santa grants children's wishes, just as Make-a-Wish does. Since then we have grown and added an event in Liverpool thanks to the fabulous club 'Sefton Sea Anglers' and all there members. After 3 events we have raised around 25K for this superb charity and we really want to continue this idea forward and bring this around the UK.
Every child deserves to smile and have fun, to think some children suffer everyday along with their parents through serious or even terminal conditions is heartbreaking. Together we can give them wishes, memories and the ability to see a brighter future... We are Fishing for Wishes and we are catching hopes and dreams!
Our next events are:
2nd Nov 2019, Otterspool, Liverpool
14th Dec 2019, Lowestoft, Suffolk
