Story
As many of you know, in September our brother-in-law Ed was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer or multiple Myeloma to give it the proper name. Myeloma is highly treatable but is not currently curable.
The cancer also caused his kidneys to fail. Within days he had started treatment and is responding well to chemo – the doctors still hope to be able to get his kidneys working again – so we are all hoping to get some good news on that front soon.
In the meantime, we are all doing what we can to support Amy, Ed and our beautiful nieces at this time (not helped at all by COVID!) and would like to raise some money for Myeloma UK’s Coffee Morning Month, throughout November.
Myeloma UK provides essential information and support to myeloma patients and their families, as well as world-leading research programme which aims to find more effective treatments and a cure for myeloma. We have already used their resources extensively to learn more about this silent disease that has crashed into our lives and I am sure in the months and years to come we will only need more from them.
Just like every charity, Myeloma UK has seen a dip in donations this year. We’d like to do our little bit to help. We can’t have a traditional coffee morning, so we’ve tried to come up with something a little bit different and not too demanding! We know it is a challenging time for everyone at the moment and there are so many good causes out there that need help, so we are asking you to donate the cost of your daily coffee that you might have had on the way to the office or drunk with a friend. Obviously if you can donate more that would be great!
Everyone who donates the price of a cup of coffee (£2.65 for a Costa medium latte for me!) will be entered into our prize draw to win a fantastic hamper of goodies (some of them handmade by Steve!) and there might also be some runners up boxes of the famous Fisher Brownies!
The competition will be open until Monday 30th November – then we will do the prize draw and get baking and delivering.
Thank you everyone for reading this and supporting our little fundraising
drive – thank you and good luck!
