Story
9 Scouts from 1st Stretton on Dunsmore spent a night sleeping out in cardboard dens, they built, in Rugby town centre. Super proud that they spent the night Sleeping Out to Help Out, even though the temperature was -3. A brilliant example set by 11-12 year olds who care about the vulnerable in our society. Please read the below message from Hope4Rugby.
Our clients say that the Hope Centre is their safe space, a caring and inclusive environment, commenting that in their experience there is nowhere like it in Rugby or the surrounding area. Why? Because they receive a holistic, person-centred service - from the immediate need of a tent to longer term solutions including permanent housing and, importantly, gaining the skills needed to maintain a tenancy, employment and to address mental & physical health issues. After an initial assessment clients can use the Centres facilities - showers, IT, laundry, clothing, tents, food, health clinic.A tailored support plan is developed covering their benefit claims, housing & job applications, health needs, immigration status. Our aim is to enable each person to reach their potential. When clients are housed staff help them get furniture etc to make it a home. We may work with clients for a few days if their situation can be easily resolved, or several years as they work towards independance.
