Story

Thank you for clicking through to read about my wild spur of the moment choice to do a FIREWALK!

Im doing this to raise money for 5 year old Gwilym who, until last year, was a member of my Munchkinos gang. He has bilateral Cerebral Palsy and has been undergoing physiotherapy since he was 1 years old. He now has the possibility of a life changing operation called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) which will significantly decrease his spasticity (stiffness) and is the only procedure that can give him a permanent improvement in his mobility. All money raised will go towards the specialist physiotherapy Gwilym’s parents have to fund privately,

I have watched Gwilym learn to crawl, learn to stand, learn to walk and learn to run. All of these achievements have taken so much concentration, grit and determination from Gwilym yet he has achieved all of these milestones with a smile on his face. I've decided to take up this challenge in solidarity with Gwilym to gain some understanding of the challenges he has to face when making his body do something it does not naturally do. I will try to do it with a smile on my face!!

You can come see me complete this nerve-racking firewalk on Saturday evening, November 19th at Ystradgynlais Community Centre.

Take a look at @gogogwilym on Instagram or ‘Go Go Gwilym’ on Facebook for regular updates about his progress. Thanks guys!

Claire xx
