Story

We are undertaking 3 Challenges in 2017 to raise much needed funds for the hard work and time provided by the charity 365 days a year.

EVENT 1 - Dragon Decaman Triathlon

Date: 16th July 2017 – 26th July

For his latest challenge FF Rich Fuller is going to attempt an infamous Deca Ironman Triathlon, which is basically 10 ironman triathlons in 10 days.

The Distances that will need to be completed each day are:

SWIM – 2.4 miles
CYCLE – 112 miles
RUN – 26.2 miles

Total Distance Covered over the 10 days

SWIM – 24 miles
CYCLE 1120 miles
RUN 262 miles

The event will be held in and around the Millennium Coastal Park, Llanelli, with the swim being undertaken in North Dock every morning. The bike and run sections will lead the challenge towards the idyllic location of Pembrey Country Park, where the permanent Base and HQ will be located.

Rich will be supported by a number of fellow firefighters during the race and some will be completing certain legs with him, but only Rich has his sights set on the full Deca!!

As well as Rich attempting the Decaman, his close FF Colleagues will be attempting to cover some pretty big mileage themselves whilst supporting him on the challenge:

FF Matt Price 1 x 2.4 Mile swim every day for 10 days (24 miles Total)

FF Mark Butler 1 x 112 Mile Cycle every day for 10 days (1120 miles Total)

FF Kevin Summerhayes 26.2 Mile Run every day for 10 days (262 Miles Total)

FF Mark Palmer Undisclosed amount of Full Ironman Distance every day!?!?!?

Please come and join us for what is sure to be a superb event hosted in fantastic surroundings. Bring the family as the park is set in over 500 acres with easy access to a full range of amenities, woodland walks and the beach of Cefn Sidan.

The race starts outside Cardiff Castle and runners then head down past Cardiff City Stadium on the way to Penarth. They take in the glorious Penarth Marina before crossing the barrage and heading to Cardiff Bay. Runners run right through the heart of the bay taking in the Norwegian Church and Wales Millennium Centre.

The course then heads towards the north of the city and runners will complete a loop of the beautiful Roath Park Lake before the grandstand finish in the heart of the city at the Civic Centre.

The wheelchair race will start at 9:50am and the rest of the field will start at 10:00am. Check out the interactive route map on the home page to see the Cardiff Half Marathon route in more detail.

The course will be policed and marshalled throughout. Race day facilities may be subject to change.
