Fundraising for Multiple Sclerosis Society
It's 1983, Miss McDougall's French class, Lenzie Academy. Three 12-year-old girls all get moved to the front of the class for non-related giggling incidents. The rest as they say, is history.
25-years, fun, laughter and tears later we are still best friends.
In 2004 Anna was diagniosed with MS . Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a condition of the central nervous system. It is the most common disabling neurological disease among young adults and affects around 85,000 people in the UK. MS is most often diagnosed in people between the ages of 20 and 40 – though it can be earlier or later. Women are almost twice as likely as men to develop MS,and in rare cases it affects children. Once diagnosed, MS stays with the person for life, but treatments and specialist care can help people to manage many symptoms well. Although its cause is not known and a cure has yet to be identified, research continues.
We don't know how her MS will affect Anna in the future, but one thing is for sure, we'll be there to support her.
One afternoon late last summer in Anna's back garden Anna, who is the Ward Manager of the Clinical Investigations Unit at The Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield, announced that she, along with her colleagues, was going to run the Great North Run for Pulmonary Hypertension. Clearly inspired and half cut at the time, Dawn and I thought , well if Anna can do it, so can we, and we'll do it for MS.
So this is why you find yourself reading my sponser page. I have been in training (sort of) since October last year and although I dont expect to be able to run the whole 13-miles, I'll do my best and through a combination of running, walking and crawling I'll hopefully finish the race the same day it starts.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online, donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me and the MS Society will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support, lots of love, Fiona
