Story
In the last 5 years I've used walking then running to help me recover from illness and to lose almost 5st in weight. In 2019 I ran my first 10K and had planned to do at least two a year from then on, but external forces conspired to bring a halt to these events globally! With the return of running events this year, it's time for me to push forward with my own story. I'm fundraising for AYF as a small way of thanking my brother Graeme, who has been my best supporter on my running journey. Over to G to explain more about AYF:
AYF formed in 2008 with the aim of providing youth work services for the Isle of Arran. It now has two employees and ten volunteers. AYFs objectives are: To provide a safe, warm environment in which young people can meet; To develop educational, physical and social skills and foundations of friendship through a variety of activities and events; To build the capacity of young people by involving them in management and decision making.
We run at least 15 weekly clubs from a fantastic youth centre (our safe, warm environment), based at the back of Arran High School, that has been entirely decorated and refurbished by young people, for young people.
Thank you for your support!
