Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
As you may (or may not know) my husband Alan was diagnosed with bowel cancer in April 2008. It's been a very tough year, so in a bid to do something positive, and raise money for an important charity, I'm going to do a tandem parachute jump on 5th April 2009 in Stirling. (p.s. I've never done a parachute jump before!)
I'm really pleased to say that Leigh Rennie and Hilary Horton from the Improvement Service (colleagues from my office!) will also be doing the same jump on the same day to raise money for MacMillan too. If you're feeling really generous, look for their page on justgiving.com as they too are looking for sponsorship!
Macmillan is a very important charity and they've supported us throughout this crap year! They sponsor nurses through training, give grants to cancer patients/families struggling with their bills, and help patients and their carers throughout the treatment process.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Macmillan Cancer Support gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
The Final Update!! Delighted to say I was seen plummeting towards the ground at 125mph on Sunday night (in freefall before the parachute was opened!) and had a fantastic experience. It was windy during the day so flights were delayed, so at 7.30pm I went up in the plane, and did 25 seconds of freefall (at 125mph) followed by an idyllic gentle parachute trip to the ground. Views were amazing, and felt on top of the world.
I'm over the moon to say I've raised £1500.00 for Macmillan Cancer Support. I'm planning to send thank u cards to everyone I have addresses for, which will include photographic evidence of my skydive experience!
Thank you so much for donating. Means a heck of a lot to Alan and I.
