The majority of us have had to face the dreaded word cancer in one way or another. Personally I have had to face losing loved ones to this horrible disease. Macmillan are truly incredible at what they do and support all the family through these difficult times, not just the person dealing with the news that they have cancer.

I have been running for nearly 6 years now, which I started just after I lost my gran to cancer. Running gave me something to focus on and allowed me to challenge myself. What started as a simple goal of completing a 5k race, then turned in to 10ks, half marathons and eventually marathons. Berlin will now be my 6th marathon and my second world major.

If I can help even one family through the difficult time of watching their loved one go through this journey then the pain of all the miles I run will be worth it.
