Story
Beating Bowel Cancer means a lot to me. Sadly, in February 2009, we lost my much loved and dearly missed father-in-law Brian when he passed away from bowel cancer after a very couragous fight. It has also affected a good friend's Mum, who was diagnosed very early through the use of a home testing kit (when she had no symptoms, just a big birthday) and thankfully was successfully treated.
With early diagnosis bowel cancer can be beaten which is why I am supporting the work Beating Bowel Cancer does to both raise awareness of the disease and support patients.
Matt Dawson is patron of this charity, here is an extract from his blog:
"Join Beating Bowel Cancer's Bowel Movement
If you do just one thing this April, please join our 'Bowel Movement’ and get everybody you know talking about bowel cancer.
It amazes me how many of the people have been affected by bowel cancer. Apparently there are over 140,000 people in the UK currently living with bowel cancer, and every day around 110 more patients are diagnosed. If all of these people, along with their friends and family, joined together it would be something really special. As part of our Bowel Movement you will help us to raise awareness of bowel cancer, support patients and their families and spread the message that bowel cancer can be beaten if we work together. So pledge your support - sign up now and tell your friends!"
