Story
I am running the London Marathon for Myeloma UK and my mum. Sadly my mum was diagnosed with Myeloma at the beginning of 2010. This was a very difficult time for me and my family after months of intensive treatment my mum is in remission. Myeloma UK provided us with a life line, they gave us hope during some dark times by providing us with clear, informative advice and information.
I began to run last autumn and after my mum's diagnoses, the one thing that got me through some very tough times was running. So far this year I have completed 5 races including 4 half marathons. I feel very privileged to be able to run London marathon on behalf of Myeloma UK.
Myeloma UK an organisation that provides up to date research and information on Myeloma. It also provides invaluable support for all who are affected by this disease.
Myeloma is a rare cancer. It is a cancer of the plasma cells which are found in the bone marrow. It accounts for 1 per cent of all cancers and 4,000 people a year are diagnosed with this illness. Myeloma is a complicated disease and effects people in different ways. Myeloma can be treatable and people can enjoy long periods of remission sadly at the moment there is no cure. However treatment has improved dramatically over the past 10 years. They also are involved in research and lobby the Government for funding so that the profile of Myeloma can be raised. Your donations will make a big difference.
I have taken on this challenge as I want to make a difference and give something back. I want to raise the profile of Myeloma UK and raise as much funds as possible so that they can continue with the work and assist in finding a cure for this cancer. Every penny counts, I would like to thank all my friends and family for their support, and I look forward to seeing some of you on race day
