When I first came to Ayrshire, over 30 years ago, this charity caught my attention and over the years, I have tried to support them, whenever I could. I am now very proud to be a trustee.  Ayrshire Cancer Support provides a wide range of practical help and emotional support for people whose lives have been affected by cancer. Importantly, this includes free transport to hospital. Their drop-in centre in Kilmarnock provides a safe and friendly space for people who face the isolation that so often comes with a cancer diagnosis. Ambitious plans to create a similar centre in Ayr are now becoming a reality with the purchase and renovation of the former St Andrews Hotel - this will also include the region’s only dedicated support facility for children & young people. But for every charity, fundraising is key and this year I am returning to the Kiltwalk - this time I’m aiming to do the big one, The Mighty Stride!  Every pound raised will go towards these vital services.
