Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running my first London Marathon in April and am very excited to be raising money for such a worthy cause!
The Home Farm Trust is a charity that take care of my Uncle Stu, who has Down Syndrome. For my whole life, (and over 30 years of his) The Trust has been responsible for Stu, supporting him to live in a house with others in the Trust's care; people who are his life long friends.
It is through their work that he is not only able to live in the community with his friends, but also able to take part in so many activities each week, ranging from art and music to horse riding and swimming. I often say he has a better social life than I do!
It is difficult to put into words just how amazing the work this charity does is; especially when it is all I have ever known for Stu since I was a little girl. It is only now that I am an adult and I look at the amazing life I have seen Stu lead, that I am both awe struck and grateful that such a charity exists. A charity that is able to not only support individuals with learning disabilities, but also their families. Families like mine, who were lucky enough to find such a wonderful, caring and supportive Trust, which has allowed Stu to live a full, safe and secure life.
I am running this marathon, raising money for The Home Farm Trust, not only to show my gratitude for everything they have done - and continue to do- for my uncle, but also to help other young people and their families who need The Trust as my family did. The work they do is invaluable and you cannot put a price on it, but I have a target of £2000 and I hope you can help me reach it.
