Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Many of you may already know my Dad, Douglas, was cared for through his last few precious days at St Mary’s Hospice in Ulverston. I spent many hours there during this time and experienced first-hand the real sense of support, love, care and commitment provided by the Hospice Team. I would again like to say thank you, and give something back to the Hospice by taking part in this year's 11Km sponsored night time “Walk to Remember”. I will be walking with my friends Julie and Jeanette.
St Mary’s Hospice is an independent, charitable, voluntary body funded mainly by community donations. The hospice provides specialised medical and nursing care to people suffering from serious progressive illnesses. At St Mary’s care is provided free of charge, but it is not cost free. To maintain their services costs around £2.4 million a year, of which they have to raise £2 million (£6,000 per day) from their supporters. It is only through the peoples generosity that the hospice is able to keep providing its vital services.
