Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
William at his happiest with his two grandchildren.
This photo was taken about a week before he died. He seemed to be on the mend and we began to talk about preparation for him coming home. Days after this photo was taken he started to become unwell and confused. The doctors were not too worried. Then on Tuesday 13th May we received a call from his doctor to say they were very worried about him and he was moved to ITU and in less than 36 hours he died.
A couple of weeks later there was an item on the news about a small charity called Sepsis UK trust, they are a small charity who are trying to raise awareness about people who suffer from a variety of Septic infections. This was my lightbulb moment. I went onto their website and read the information. Slowly I began to realise why William had died so suddenly. He died from Staphylococcal Septic Shock. Basically he was unable to fight this infection. Understanding what happened to him can’t take the pain away but it does help me to understand why he died.
The Sepsis UK Trust are a small charity who work very hard to make sure that our Health Care Professionals understand how patient contract these infections, how they can work to prevent patients contacting them, they also help family’s come to terms with the effects of these infections and finally they want to educate us, the public, about these infections. Septic infections can and does affect or kills children, fathers, mother, sisters, brothers, in fact anyone. If you want to know more please visit their website.
With this in mind I am asking you to help me raise Money to help them with their work. I plan to raise £1000 during the period 15th May 2015 the 1st anniversary of his death and 26th July 2015 which would have been our 35th anniversary and we planned to celebrate by renewing our vows.
I have set up a ‘Just Giving’ page and will keep you updated with the various events I am hoping to run
Many thanks
Fiona
