Story
Here is a little extract, written by Rosies mum. It explains what happened to Rosie, and why we're now fundraising for Brompton Hospital!
When Rosie was born we had no idea anything was wrong . 24hrs later we were in SCBU awaiting the CATS ambulance to take us to Royal Brompton Hospital.
We arrived on Good Friday. Later that day Rosie had her first surgery for coarctation of the aorta (COA) done by the amazing Dr Saeed. We also found out she had an Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) and a malformed mitral valve . It went well and she began her recovery. She had a few complications and she began to have seizures and was diagnosed with kidney problems. At 3 weeks, 4 days old we got to take her home.
Unfortunately just two weeks later we were back with kidney failure, heart failure, a fungal infection in her bloodstream and flu. She spent the next nine weeks in and out of PICU and Roseward needing three more trips to theatre for her heart and kidneys. She went home at 4 months old NG fed trying to gain weight for her full repair .
We returned in May 2015 and she had her PA band removed and VSD patched we were home five days later!!! Since then she has thrived and we have weaned her from her NG tube and she is just amazing!!!
We will never ever be able to thank the Brompton enough. It became our home and the doctors and nurses our friends and will always be a huge part to our lives.
