Story

In 2014 my nephew George was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma at the age of just 10. Thanks to the unbelievable care and treatment he received at Birmingham Children's Hospital, he is now COMPLETELY CLEAR, fighting fit and looking forward to a career in aviation engineering, and supports the mighty Arsenal like his Auntie Fi, the absolute legend!

In December 2019 my sister Annabel and her husband Oliver had a beautiful baby boy called Arthur. Their 20 week scan revealed that their firstborn has a unilateral cleft lip, and when he arrived it became clear it was also in his pallet. Within days of finding out this news at the scan, Birmingham Children's Hospital were in contact to arrange a visit at Annabel and Oliver's home, advising them of what Arthur will go through in his first few months and years and what they can expect as parents to a very special baby boy. Their visit had a hugely positive impact on this lovely little family and allowed them to take this news in and move forward to the future.

Since Arthur's arrival, the amazing cleft team from Birmingham Children's Hospital visited him at his home numerous times and Arthur had his first consultation with his amazing consultant Mr Khan. Arthur's first operation was scheduled for April 2020 but this was postponed because of the pandemic. After pre ops and meetings with the hospital via Zoom, Arthur went on to have his first operation on September 24 2020. Mr Khan and his team at Birmingham Children's Hospital did the most incredible job of fixing Arthur's nose and mouth. He looks as beautiful and perfect as he did before his operation! Defying the odds of pronouncing certain letters and calling for his "Mom Mom Mom" within hours of his operation! As if to say, "Look mommy I can call you now!"

Arthur's second operation to fix his pallet took place on January 18 2021. The operation was a success thanks to Arthur's unbelievable consultant and his team and all of the staff at Birmingham Children's Hospital.

So please help me raise as much money as I possibly can to support this amazing hospital, who have brought light to my family in the darkest of days. Thank you so much for your support and generosity. Here's to two Gooners (Mo Farah and I) in a sprint finish down the Mall on October 03 2021!!!
