Story
Given the London Marathon was postponed from last year to this year (along with our wedding), my running momentum somewhat waned...along with my sobriety!
Now it is time to get back onto the training journey and get Marathon ready for 3 October.
I have chosen to run and raise money for St John Ambulance. I have attended many sporting occasions, festivals and many other events over the years where members of this voluntary service have been there to provide invaluable first aid and medical support. This service also teaches first aid to adults and children which has saved so many lives over the years.
Another reason I have chosen to run for this charity is that it means a lot to my now extended family (the Gaveys), all members of which have served St John over the years (and most of them still do). It therefore would mean a lot to me to run to help a charity that means so much to them.
I am aiming to raise GBP 4,000.
Looking at where this money could go, this would pay for two AED defibrillators which can prove vital to the resuscitation process following a heart attack. Any donation would be most appreciated, for example, GBP25 could pay for 200 first aid guides, providing essential advice on how to treat five common conditions where first aid could be the difference between a life lost and a life saved...
I would be so grateful if you could all donate to this good cause, however small. It really would mean an awful lot to me.
