Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
So I have left this a little late but thought it would be a good opportunity to raise a little amount of money for a very worthy charity if nothing else..
A group of us will be taking part in the well known Rock Solid Race this Sunday (22/03/15)... It seemed like a good idea at the time however, it is now all very real and I am now slightly regretting signing up. I will not let it beat me though and will rise to the challenge once again..
Anyway, a little about why I want to raise money for the British Heart Foundation...
In October, a doctor accidentally discovered my youngest Niece Joni has a heart murmur. My sister was told not to worry and that most pre-school kids have this, but that she needs to be checked out. And so began the journey of appointments at Evalina Children’s Hospital that led to the subsequent diagnosis of congenital heart defect, coarctation of the aorta. Whilst serious, this is a treatable heart defect which requires surgery to repair the coarctation – apparently it’s great that this has been picked up early as Joni can have support for life to ensure that her heart is working perfectly. Without diagnosis and treatment, she would have undoubtedly had heart failure in early adulthood.
Now it’s March, we have a date for Joni’s op in April. My sister has since signed up for the Bournemouth Bay Half Marathon with her good friends, Julia and Anna and they have just over 3 weeks to go ‘til the big day. Joni’s big day is in 4 weeks, and I suspect that without the research of the British Heart Foundation, Joni might not have been so lucky.
Please support my sister and Joni on both of their big days (and send your positive thoughts Joni’s way) and to me and the team this Sunday by donating here on my Just Giving Page
