Story
Hello.
Finn is 8 and a lives in the postcard picture village of Mousehole.
Hes an avid sea swimmer.
He loves nothing more than spending his free time in Mousehole harbour, swimming, playing and generally being a typical 8 year old.
During this unprecedented time, Finn has been away from his friends and school, and found swimming a great distraction.
His school have an amazing swimming programme for all of the children, and over time this has helped Finn's desire to become a much better swimmer, and in turn, he has become a very proficient open water (sea) swimmer.
A few years back he moved to Mousehole, only 60 seconds away from the beautiful South Quay. His love for seasonal swimming increased, as well as his knowledge of local tides, currents and making sure he was aware for every eventuality and every environment he swims in!
Finn has seen over the past months of all of the amazing fundraising that has been happening.
Last month tragedy struck the village that Finn lives in, and a very well loved and respected member of the wider community, who always looked out for sea swimmers of all ages, sadly passed away.
Finn has decided to raise some much needed funds for Cornwall Hospice Care. They cater for all caring needs and cover the entire county that Finn calls home.
Finn has decided to do the Big Swim.
This is a 2.4 mile swim or a 13.1 mile paddle.
But in the true Finn style of Go Big or Go Home, he has decided to test himself by doing a 13.1 mile swim, in and around Mousehole harbour, his home.
He has the entire month of July to do the swim, and to raise some much needed funds.
His mom and dad have worked out that Finn needs to swim a whopping 140 lengths of his much loved Mousehole Harbour!
He's been checking the tide times and weather forecasts, and knows he has a mammoth task ahead of him!
If you can help support Finn in any way, by donating ( he know's times are tough), or even by just sharing his story to help further the wider support that is needed for Cornwall Hospice Care, or even some words of encouragement, it would all be gratefully received!
Many thanks from Finn and his team.
Stay safe x
