Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Along with my brother Nick, I will be running Brighton Marathon in support of MacMillan Cancer Support on Sunday 9th of April in memory of our Dad, Mike who sadly died 18 years ago from bowel cancer, and also my father -in -law, Nigel who died of the same disease last year.
My Dad was only 61 when he died. He was a real family man, saw good in everyone and was incredibly generous and caring man. He loved children and for many years my parents were foster carers. One of Dad's greatest wishes was to be a grandfather, but sadly he died before he had chance to meet any of them. Dad never got to hear the cry of panic from his youngest daughter (me!) when I called to say " Oh my god, I am pregnant...and I am having TWINS!" For those who knew my Dad they would know how hard he would have laughed!!!
Nigel too was only in his 60s when he died , and after dedicating his whole career to teaching, he never got to enjoy his retirement. He always made me feel welcome and was generous to a fault. So it only seems right to give something back on his, and my Dad's behalf.
Fundraising is hugely important to Macmillan. Without people doing events, running marathons, climbing mountains, and donating in all the other ways that you can, Macmillan wouldn’t exist.
