We campaign, support and fund research to stop people dying of bowel cancer

Story

Hi I’m Fi (Fiona Cameron). Mum to Leona (5) and Lochlan (2).
I live in Glasgow with my wonderfully supportive husband Jamie. My accent may be a bit jumbled, but I am a Geordie at heart.

I’m absolutely delighted to join this Team of Legends for their latest Epic challenge in support of Bowel Cancer UK. I am doing this Self-Funded so every penny raised on my page will go direct to the charity.

I have known Emma since Primary 1 and watched her grow into the authentic, kind hearted, passionate, inspirational warrior we all know and love. I can’t say how proud I am of how she has fought through her cancer journey with an unwavering determination and positivity. Not only that she has does so with an open and giving spirit, sharing the highs and lows and raising awareness around bowel cancer. Love you Em! (See main team page for more on Emma and Becks story.)

I can’t wait to get to know Becks more too. I have followed her journey through Emma and can feel the love and positive, supportive energy they share.

Bowel cancer has also impacted my immediate family. With both of my late Grandparents on my Mums side having bowel cancer. I can remember even at a young age the huge impact it had on them and our family.

So, I was thrilled (and a little nervous) when Emma discussed her latest grand plan for fund raising for Bowel Cancer UK and that she and Becks allowed me to join them on this monumental challenge.

The goal to raise vital money for this incredibly under funded charity, which needs desperately to research the increase of bowel cancer in younger people as well as finding cures; specifically where the cancer has spread like it had for both Beck’s (into lymph nodes) and Emma (into liver.) Also, to help Emma and Becks with their continued amazing work in raising awareness of of bowel cancer in young people.

Personally, I am also hoping to inspire my little ones that
anything in life is possible and if an adventure comes along big or small take it. So here we go on the adventure of a lifetime.

We are going to be trekking to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in January 2022.

Mount Kilimanjaro is in Tanzania, Africa, and at 5,895 metres tall, it is the World’s tallest freestanding mountain!

It is one of the tallest volcano’s ever to break through the Earth’s crust!

The trek will take 9 days (5.5 up and 2.5 down) and will involve camping on the mountain.

Working with the organisation Charity Challenge, the route we will be travelling is the Lemosho route (not the quickest but with a decent success rate and better chance to acclimatise and hopefully prevent altitude sickness)!

On average Kilimanjaro success rate for the summit is 66%!

What a challenge! I am so excited to do it, especially along side Emma, Becks and the team. Knowing every single donation can make a huge
different to Bowel Cancer UK, who are incredibly excited we are taking on this challenge for them, and happy to support us with it.

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro has been on my pipe dream bucket list for years now so having the opportunity to support Emma and Becks all the way to the top and see these determined warriors stick it to cancer will just be the best awesome.

So thank you for any support you can give us with this challenge. Sparing some hard earned cash, a like, a share or maybe a sponsored
mini challenge with me. We are so grateful.

Lets do this Team x x x
