Story
The Festival of Europe shanty project highlights our shared European history of centuries of seafaring trade and migration through sea shanty songs and sessions while fundraising for RNLI.
There is more that unites the peoples of the UK with those on the European continent than divides them. We are grateful for RNLI who turn out to rescue all endangered lives around our seas.
The Festival of Europe is a cultural celebration spanning the diversity of the European continent and all those for whom Europe is home. It is founded on a vision of collaboration, unity, and friendship, inviting cultural exchanges which transcend borders of every kind. We are co- hosting events across the UK and Europe.

Too many people are still drowning. More than ever we need the RNLI’s help. As a charity, the RNLI depends on our donations so it can go on saving lives and keeping us and our loved ones safe. RNLI lifesavers are our lifeline. They’re the lifeboat crews who provide 24-hour search and rescue right around the UK and Ireland. The lifeguards keeping watch on 240 of the busiest beaches in the UK and Channel Islands.
