Story
Three years ago I first went to Koma Hills, Nigeria to visit a missionary friend called Gabriel.
Little did I know that it would change my life.
I met a family and they had a son called Mishak. He had dreams of becoming a doctor and helping people as some of his family had died from poor sanitation practices.
As I looked around at the resources of the community in which Mishak lived I noticed that it would be very difficult for him to survive his childhood, let alone thrive and become a doctor.
So a few friends and I decided to start a charity to help Mishak and his friends called Wellwater!
The following year we went to build Koma Hills a well. But that was only the beginning....
In the summer 2021 on the 31st of July, I will take on the #Run4Koma Challenge!
WellWater and I are working to alleviate the poverty in Koma Hills, Nigeria! We are looking at the six thematic areas of poverty and we want to boost 5 of these 6 areas in Koma Hills so that the community can not just survive but flourish and be self-sustainable!
Last year we raised the funds for a sustainable school which we will build in November 2021.
But our goal is to provide Koma Hills with not just a SUSTAINABLE SCHOOL in the heart of the community, BUT also:
1.) 6 composting Toilets. The composting toilets will provide a safely managed sanitation service for children at the school.
2.) Agriculture Initiative (Composting area). The toilets' caretakers will place human waste into composting bins and clean the buckets in this area safely. This will revolutionise the economy in the area as the ground will become more fertile and thus multiply the produce generated by farming.
3.) Solar panels. We want to provide clean energy for the school. A solar panel system will provide electricity. This will mean that there will be more hours in the day to study, work and spend time as a family.
4.) 12 Water Wells. There are still more than 9,000 inhabitants in Koma who are in need of clean water.
Let's do this together!
