Story
TEAM FenDog will take on the amazing Pedal Paddle Peak Challenge in July to support MDUK. We take this challenge on behalf of Owen, youngest brother to Ed and Adam, who has this unfortunate muscle wasting disease. Owen was fully diagnosed in 2012, back in 2019 he underwent a major 10 hour operation to place rods in his back to support his spine. He stayed in the ICU at Queens Nottingham for over 2 weeks for the first part of the recovery. Despite all this trauma , Owen now 17, remains positive and lives as normal life as the condition allows. He has started college and has a love of music production, together with his pastime of online gaming as well as supporting The Blades! The condition does limit his mobility and naturally he tires quickly due to the energy needed just to do normal everyday activities. I believe the condition also makes him more "Cheeky"!! As with many charities during Covid, MDUK has suffered and as they have been so supportive to Owen and the family we wanted to take on this epic challenge. Set in the lake district we will cycle 30 miles, paddle 2 miles and climb mount Helvellyn - the event take around 8 hours, being tough and fun at the same time. Along with other participants the TEAM FenDog have set a minimum limit of £3000 - all other expenses, of entry fee, travel, accommodation are self funded as we want the maximum to go to MDUK. We hope to keep you posted of our training and any updates - We welcome all the support possible, although funding helps, the awareness is just as important. Thank You from the FenDog TEAM!!
