We were approached by one of our talented young chefs who has type 1 diabetes and asked if we could help in anyway to give something back to the unit that did so much to support him with the illness.

This charity dinner featuring carefully selected and prepared local produce is 'diabetes friendly' and is all his vision. We hope you can join us!

"I was diagnosed on the 20th of December 1994 a month after my 2nd birthday. I was too young to remember any symptoms, but my parents... tell me it was the drinking the bath water that worried them.
It has stopped me from either joining the forces or the police and it hasn't been easy becoming a chef. The myths that people have about diabetes made it difficult at times in school, but thanks to the diabetes UK camps it showed me that I was not alone and that I could do just as much as anyone else..."
