Fundraising for Tree of Hope
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. On 5th September Securahome staff will get on their bikes for charity to – once again – raise funds for the Go Felix campaign.
Three-year-old Felix Forbes has a rare condition called Lissencephaly and Miller-Dieker Syndrome, which means he has difficulty swallowing food and even holding up his head.
His parents hope to raise up to £50,000 to pay for specialist equipment and further therapy sessions.
The 50 mile, ‘Four Castles Sponsored Bike Ride’ on September 5 will start at Dryslwyn Castle go on to Kidwelly, then Loughor and finish in Oystermouth.
Once again we hope that you will consider sponsoring or even joining us. All proceeds will go to the Go Felix campaign.
A little about Felix Forbes: Felix is a very happy and cheeky 3 year old with a very rare genetic brain disorder called Lissencephaly with Miller-dieker syndrome.
Lissencephaly literally translates to ‘smooth brain’ meaning that during pregnancy his brain didn’t fully develop the full six layers a normal functioning brain has, but instead has only four. This condition impacts in ways many of us take for granted, like swallowing food for example or even holding up your own head.
In order for Felix to make as much progress as possible, his parents work with the NHS and a network of therapists to try to build his strength and improve his quality of life. With the help of the NHS he is responding extremely well and always progressing but unfortunately the amount of time the therapists are able to give him just isn’t enough to meet his needs.
Felix's parents estimate that they must raise in the region of £50,000 to pay for the therapy and equipment he needs to help him develop and have a better quality of life.
