Story
During February this year someone gave a talk at my school about the surprisingly large number of teenagers silently dealing with cancer every year. The talk really moved me and made me want to do something to help those people my age with cancer.
Thus, I’ve decided to try and raise £2,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust by single sculling the stretch of the Thames from Oxford to Putney Bridge, London (165km) in four days from the 29th March to the 1st of May.
With seven people aged 13-24 diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK alone. Cancer in young people is a huge problem that no one seems to be aware of as many young people who are diagnosed suffer in silence and shy away from telling their friends and family because they don’t want anyone to worry. However, the Teenage Cancer Trust hopes to change that by providing support and advice from the moment a teenager is diagnosed.
