Story
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor us online. We are running the ING New York Marathon for Get Kids Going!, a fantastic charity that gives disabled children the opportunity to take part in loads of sports that require specialist equipment or extra funding. (Please visit www.getkidsgoing.com for more information.)
It will come as quite a surprise to many that the terminally lazy Felicity has decided to get off her backside to train for and run a marathon. You should believe her when she says that no-one is more surprised than her... Julia has always been the athletic one, but it is still a huge task, made even bigger as she has to chivvy Felicity along! Your generosity makes it all worthwhile, as we want to help Get Kids Going! help as many children as possible.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Get Kids Going! will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax ('Gift Aid') will be added to your gift at no cost to you. Unfortunately, any donations from people overseas, or from those not eligible for Gift Aid, will incur a commission charge for Get Kids Going! - as we want to raise as much as possible, would any of these donors mind posting their donation to us instead? Email felicityparker@hotmail.com or juliaparker11@hotmail.com for details.
So please sponsor us now!
Many thanks for your support.

Sorry about the tardiness of this update - we've been very busy, what with training and karaoke and the like!
The training's going very well, although the heat is really on now as it's only 5 weeks until the big day...! Struggling with a few aches and pains in the joints, we're aiming to step up the training this week by going for much longer distances. Felicity is hoping to break the 2 hour mark.
With the nights drawing in and the temperature dropping, please think of us as we hit the streets on these autumnal evenings.
On a brighter note, the karaoke evening was a fantastic success - we raised over £500, which all goes straight to Get Kids Going!. Special thanks go to Simon Mattacks who organised the event and also provided musical guidance and performances that put everyone else to shame! Plaudits must also go to Dad - who could have guessed that one man could perform at such a volume without electronic assistance?

Only 2 weeks to go, starting to get quite nervous now! The training's going well though - Felicity broke the 2-hour mark, and then the 3-hour mark over the past few weeks. Today was particularly challenging what with the torrential rain!
The golf day was last Friday and went really well. Thanks to everyone who came. The weather was fantastic and everyone seemed to have a really good time. We raised over £500 so a great success all round!

We did it! Truly a miserable experience at the time - aching joints like you wouldn't believe, rubbing and chafing, blisters, cramps, enthusiastic Americans - but the relief at the end... ah, there's nothing like it! When they put the medal around your neck, you feel like a million bucks (and also a bit like you might fall over). Julia did it in an amazing 4 hours 59 mins, and Felicity in a determined 6 hours 27 mins. Tears were shed by all, and now this whole experience is done it feels very strange. We have our evenings back again! Thanks so much to everyone for being so supportive and believing we could do it, even when we didn't think we could. It has been a nuts few months, but a time that we will never forget. Hope to see you all soon. Over and out xxx
