Story
In September, Felicity, Lauren, Kate, Beth and Steve will be attempting to cycle the length of the UK, from Lands End in Cornwall, to John O'Groats in Scotland. The route is over 1000 miles long and involves 14 days in a row of cycling an average of 70-80 miles a day (with one day of 95 miles - oh dear!). We've never attempted anything like this before, so it could be a complete disaster, but we've all been training hard and eating lots of cake in preparation, so we'll just have to see!
A few people have asked about sponsoring us, and if others in need can benefit from this, then it seems seems like the right thing to do.
The charity we'd like to support is Community Action Nepal. This was set up by a British mountaineer to help those in need in Nepal in very practical ways, such as schools, healthcare and housing. They have been doing wonderful work since the Nepal earthquakes earlier this year, and are very efficient at using money in the best way possible, as they are a small-scale operation. Felicity visited Nepal last year and found it a beautiful and welcoming country, whose people are humble and friendly. Her guide and porter were amongst those whose homes and villages were destroyed by the earthquake, and they have been sharing details of the ongoing difficulties faced in the area, as communities struggle to rebuild their homes, schools, hospitals and lives.
Any donation gratefully big or small will be gratefully received - we do believe it will make a genuine difference to those suffering in Nepal.
