Story

Thanks for visiting Feldon Veterinary Centre's Teams Page

Our team consists of Jane Latchem, our Practice Administrator, who has completed charity walks in the past and is keen to get walking, Chris Murphy another member of the reception team who is often off skiing and Marleen Kok, a  Veterinary Surgeon, who is our only offically fit member of the team, as she rows several times a week!  There's Katie Harfield another of our Veterinary Surgeons who is an admirer of walking through places of beauty especially with a nice hot flask, Charlotte one of receptionist who is brilliant at getting us organised Oh and myself Erica Starling, Senior Healthcare Nurse, a rather hyperactive indvidual who has hurded this crew togeather.

We are all based at our main site in Leamington Spa and have the pleasure of being the Veterinary Centre for the Guide Dog Breeding and Training centres in Warwickshire.  This means we get to interact with the pups, not only whilst in their early stages of care, but through their training and again when settled into their working homes.  We get to see just how much time and care Guide Dogs put into each individual dog. So much so that we really do belive that they all deserve sponsorship we can get, so they can continue in their fantastic work.

The Challange

The first stage of our challenge will commence at 8:30am with a briefing where teams will be given the order in which they will complete all three disciplines.

The mountain bike route for the challenge will involve a 17km route of beautiful lake shore lanes, rugged forest roads and long flowing descents on the fast single-track trails of Grizedale forest.

Launching from the shores of Coniston Water on our sit on top kayaks, we will enjoy a wet and wild paddle on a 3km lap that will be designed depending on the prevailing weather conditions on the day.

Leaving Coniston village behind, the 10km hike route will take us to the summit of the famous ‘Old Man of Coniston’, 803 metres above sea level. Weather permitting; we will be rewarded with a spectacular view of all we have achieved.

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
