Walk, stroll or hike your way to support Nottingham Hospitals Charity!

Story

Six of our fantastic E40 team are undertaking a 5 day coast to coast walk to raise money for our neonatal MRI appeal and sensory equipment for ward E40. The coastal walk is 135km long stretching coast to coast across northern England, from Wallsend, Newcastle upon Tyne in the east to Bowness-on-Solway in Cumbria on the west coast.

Ward E40 is the neuroscience and spinal unit located at Nottingham Children’s Hospital; they care for children who have a range of different needs.

Sensory equipment is vital to the unit as it helps support our patient’s language development, cognitive growth, fine and gross motor skills, problem solving skills, and social interaction

The neonatal MRI technology and equipment will include special head coils to fit in the babies’ incubators, and software to cut scanning time from 30 to 15 minutes. The ultimate aim is to make MRI scans quicker and safer for our tiniest patients.

Each day of the 5 day hike the team will be raising awareness through the wards twitter page @QMCPaedsNeuro of different conditions and charities.
