Story
Dear friends,
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I would like to thank all of you who have supported me with sports-related challenges over the last few years. I say hello to and welcome those of you who are taking part in this this madness for the first time! The challenges have had impact on family and friends, which has given me the strength and encouragement to continue year after year.
As many of you know, I survived from a big car accident six years ago. This incident changed my life for the better. I try to be thankful on a regular basis for the amazing opportunity that I have been given. Had I not survived that accident, I would have missed on the terrific family we have built with my wife Sakina!! Since the accident I made a commitment that once a year I would organise (or take part in) a sports-related event to raise money for people in need as a way of giving thanks. Also taking part/organising challenges reminds me of how lucky I am to be alive.
These initiatives have had an impact on many of you. The challenges provide an opportunity to take part in the event, to donate for a great cause and to inspire you and me to do something (although small) meaningful for society.
My commitment still holds. This year's challenge will be my 7th Challenge since the accident and my 8th consecutive yearly challenge (for previous challenges, visit https://sites.google.com/site/federicodipace/home). After the amazing success of last year's DDTC, this year I will attempt to play tennis from Dawn to Dusk (and if I manage to get flood lights up and running I will go for a 24hr Challenge) and, in doing so, I want us to raise money for Plastic Oceans UK. The reason for choosing this charity is simple: "preserving the natural environment is investing in our children future". This year we have been blessed with the arrival of our beautiful son Santiago and through this Challenge I express my deepest gratitude. We have two beautiful sons and we know that their livelihoods depend on what we do today.
The date of the challenge has been set for the 10/11th of August (weather allowing) and will take place in Brighton (Dyke Road Park Club). I will put together a schedule so that you can play with or against me and come along at that time. Let me know if you would like to play.
Please help me raise money to get rid of plastic in the Oceans. What Plastic Oceans UK do is truly remarkable. Let's help raise awareness and keep the Oceans clean!!!!!
Plastic Oceans UK have been experts on plastic pollution for nearly a decade. This began with our award-winning documentary A Plastic Ocean, now available for streaming on Netflix. Each year an extra eight million tonnes of plastic enters the ocean. By supporting them, you're facilitating our education, science and sustainability programmes that will create a wave of change.
Looking forward to seeing you in Brighton.
