We tackle poverty by supporting girls to learn, thrive, and lead change
Story
WANT TO HAVE YOUR PHOTO TAKEN ON TOP OF A MOUNTAIN BUT...
...don’t want to climb the 4000 metres to get there?
...don’t fancy getting up at 2:30 in the morning for a decent view?
...not a big fan of leeches, mosquitoes and tropical diseases?
Fear not! Faye's (imaginatively titled) Mt ToubkalChallenge is here to help!
For all donations of £20 or more to Faye's Mt Toubkal Challenge I’ll fly to Morocco, climb the mountain, take the photo and deliver to your door your very own Mount Toubkal souvenir! It's simply an opportunity you cannot afford to miss!
Hi everyone!
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Full details of why you are donating are found below, for all you busy/lazy people here are the key points and what you need to know...
· It's by women for women
· It's a bloody great mountain
· It's three days
· and I need your money!
Here's why...
Campaign for Female Education (CAMFED) support and fund female education in Sub Saharan Africa, if you educate a girl, you educate a community. By educating a female in Africa she will;
· Earn up to 25 per cent more and reinvest 90 per cent in her family.
· Be three times less likely to become HIV-positive.
· Have fewer, and healthier children who are 40 per cent more likely to live past the age of five.
CAMFED does this through long term support, offering business training and small business grants and empowering women.
Cindy is a 12 year old Zambian girl who was sadly orphaned due to Aids (see video). With Camfed’s help she can afford to go to school and with amazing grit and determination has declared her ambition to become a lawyer so she can ‘bring justice to the world’.
It only costs £330 to provide a girl with everything she needs to support her to stay in school for a whole year. The £2000 raised will be enough to help provide 5 girls like Cindy with a fairer chance in life.
Training has begun in earnest! I am hitting the gym in preparation for the punishing 16 week onslaught of training which will see me rack up 133 hours of walking... that's 266 miles! (I've had to stop typing whilst I gently weep). I shouldn't have worked that out.
Here comes the Geography bit…
In September I will be climbing Mount Toubkal, a mountain peak in south-western Morocco, located in the Toubkal National Park.
At 4,167 metres, it is the highest, HIGHEST, peak in the Atlas Mountains and in North Africa.
I will take a moment to draw your attention to the fact it is 3 consecutive days of constant climbing, possible risk of dehydration, altitude sickness, sleeping on the floor without a roof, no chance of a shower and all without a hangover to make it worthwhile!
This is a big challenge with an even bigger target. Please dig deep and do your bit. Your bit is easy! As they say 'every little helps' but lots helps more!
Faye Xx
Ps. I know who I've sent this to, I have a list of names...
