‘Shakti Women’s Aid helps BME and migrant women, children, and young people who are experiencing, leaving, or healing from domestic abuse by a partner, ex-partner, or family members, often at every stage of this journey. Other experiences for which they can offer advice and support in keeping safe include forced marriage, immigration rights, ‘honour-based’ violence, and female genital mutilation (FGM). They work closely with the Scottish Government, Police Scotland, NHS Scotland, and other statutory and voluntary services. Shakti also provide training and consultancy for agencies, professionals, students, and volunteers. Their service is confidential and free to use.
