Story
Hello, and thank you for taking the time out to look at this page!
On 3/1/2018, I was officially diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. A condition that can effect all forms of everyday life.
The months leading up to this were some of the most challenging for me - losing a significant amount of weight, constantly needing a wee and feeling extremely tired. This time of my life was not only painful, but also very frustrating, as I couldn't figure out what it was that was making me deteriorate in such a way.
With the help of Diabetes UK, NHS, other fantastic orgainisations and the technology that has been developed over the years - I have managed to spend my early 20's living life with a somewhat manageable and regular lifestyle. Although there are days that can be extremely difficult and tiring, I am so thankful to be in a position where I can lead a lifesyle where I am happier and healthier. Unfortunately there are many who still struggle with this condition and cannot get as easy access to the resources that they need.
For my 25th birthday I have decided to do a biiiiig old walk to raise money for Diabetes UK - from the centre of Glasgow to the Centre of Edinburgh. With hopes of completing it in 24 hours, I am planning on leaving Glasgow on the 9th of February and hoping to get into Edinburgh on the 10th, the day of my birthday.
Any donation, big or small, is always welcome.
Love and light and see you on the finish line xo
