Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
We are taking on this challenge in memory of not just Jane but also all those other loved ones we have lost to cancer and to raise funds for Macmillan in recognition of the support and help they have provided in respect of end of life care.
Jane was diagnosed with lung cancer in March 2012 and by September had unfortunately passed away from the disease.
The last place she visited with her grandchildren, James and Hannah was Coniston Water to watch Sarah and I take part in an open water swim. She said at the time that she thought we were "totally bonkers" but what a fantastic day she had had.
It seemed appropriate that this swim was to take place a year after a day after her funeral and at a place she really loved.
The swim is the entire length of Coniston Water which is five miles in total.
We are hoping for a water temperature of around 15 degrees and expect to take around 3 hours.
We have been doing long training sessions in the pool and also the sea (with the jellyfish) on top of a variety of open water swims this year in the Lake District.
We don't take ourselves seriously and it is all about using a sport we love to raise money for a very worthwhile cause in memory of all those touched by cancer.
Please, please, please support us !
