Story
Back in early 2012 I gained 6stone in 4months! I went to my GP to cry out for help and got told I was fat & lazy. A few months later I gained the courage to go back to GP after noticing a lump on my neck and was diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid Cancer. Following 8 & a half operation, 4day stay in ITU and radioactive iodine I reached remission March 2013.
Throughout my treatment I was supported and cared for by Teenage Cancer Trust. They helped my family and I get through treatment as leading a 'normal' life of a 23year old.
Around seven young people aged between 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK. They need expert treatment and support from the moment they hear the word ‘cancer.’ We’re the only charity dedicated to making this happen. The Teenage Cancer Trust Unit, Area 61 at Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre is for 16-24 year olds and has 5 in-patient beds and day care facilities. All bedrooms are equipped with soft furnishings, bespoke furniture, TV, DVD and gaming facilities, and there are laptops provided.
I did Bristol 10k on 7th may 2017 with my Dad who has been by my side with Mum throughout my journey and will be kicking my arse to the finishing line. Finished in 1hr 41mins 10secs 😀😀
All donations will go direct to Teenage Cancer Trust and will encourage me on my way. Please keep an eye on my facebook page for progress.
