Story
Louise, Hilary, Karen, and Emma have decided to get our fat bottoms back on our bikes and cycle 500 km down the Nile to raise money for two amazing charities close to our hearts.
Bromley Brighter Beginnings (https://www.bromleybrighterbeginnings.org.uk/) is a charity on Lou and Emma's doorstep that provides essential support to local families living in deprivation and often fleeing domestic violence. It raises awareness about the level of poverty in the London Borough of Bromley and the impact of this poverty on the lives of children and their parents. It's run entirely by volunteers, one of which is our own lovely Louise.
Umoja Boys (https://www.facebook.com/umojaboys/) is a UK and Kenya-based charity that responds to the issue of street-living boys in Kenya. Founded in 2015, Umoja works tirelessly to save as many homeless boys as possible from surviving on the streets, where they experience extreme hunger, sickness, abuse, and police brutality.
We will be joining a small group cycling from Cairo to the Valley of the Kings for 500km over 5 days. It will, we hope, be a journey full of fun, friendship, and incredible support as women and men of all ages - and sizes - come together to challenge themselves for great causes. All the funds we raise will go directly to our chosen charities as we are funding the cost of our travel ourselves.
On 17th September, we will be hosting a MEGA fundraising party with live music, food and great raffle prizes at the Bridge House SE20 as well as doing a few other daft things to raise our collective £3,000 target. And a heck of a lot of training! Please do buy tickets (link: www.shorturl.at/sA579) to the latest of our well-renowned Fat Bottom Girls fundraising events. xxx
