Story
Abrey Construction are competing and we mean business!! Its taken a while to get this page up and running because we have been so busy with our current projects whilst working on our Soapbox in the background. So what do you need to know to encourage you to donate...... We have the boss in the driving seat..... what could possibly go wrong right?! We would love your support and backing so please donate for this great cause.
The inaugural Farndon Soapbox Derby is taking place on Sunday 18th of September 2022 with the aim of creating some positive community spirit, having lots of fun and laughter and creating that sense of ‘togetherness and giving back to the community, after everyone has been impacted by Covid. We will be closing Farndon High Street and the Holt/Farndon Bridge to through traffic for the day, creating a safe but fun racetrack running from Farndon school to the Bridge. It's about 350 metres long, and we are hoping to attract about 35 kart teams. With your generous support, we can celebrate a truly spectacular, successful local event and lay the foundations for an annual community day of fun that will be enjoyed for many years to come. 90% of the money raised from running the main Soapbox Derby event will go straight to fund the fantastic work done in the local community by the Hospice of the Good Shepherd. The Hospice of the Good Shepherd operates in the local community for our local community. They support individuals and their families who have been diagnosed with a life-limiting illness and last year over 1,600 local people benefited from the services we provide. The remaining 10% of the net profits will be given back into the communities of Farndon and Holt to be re-invested in local worthy initiatives. By putting on the event we are providing a safe space in both villages for other village events to be put on by the local communities which will, in turn, raise money for them. We already have the churches, Farndon School, the Memorial Hall, and the Farndon Community Centre joining in the fun with hopefully more to follow. We want this to be a full day of activities across both villages and we are working in collaboration with Cheshire West and Chester Safety Advisory Group and expect to attract up to 5,000 people drawn from Farndon, Holt and the surrounding village communities. Please help us to make this event something really spectacular that everyone can enjoy. Every donation is most gratefully received and we are grateful for your support.
