Road to a Sub-1:30 Half Marathon #TeamCharlieWaller

Cambridge Half Marathon 2023 · 5 March 2023 ·
Firstly, thanks for visiting my fundraising page!
I'm Farhan, a 2nd-year Engineer at the University of Cambridge from Malaysia, and I'll be running in the 2023 Cambridge Half Marathon in support of the Charlie Waller Trust for mental health.
The Trust was founded by the Waller family after Charlie took his own life whilst suffering from depression. They aim to educate young individuals and their families/caretakers on the importance and awareness of mental health, so that they are supported throughout their primary school years to the start of their working lives.
To be honest, I was never really aware of the state of my own mental health until I first started studying in Cambridge last year, when the pressure of having to succeed at a top university and the thought of being away from all my family and friends got to me. Personally, after what I've had to gone through I hope to inspire more people to not be afraid of opening up while being able to power through their challenges in life. This also made me choose to partner up with the Charlie Waller Trust for the Cambridge Half Marathon.
I've previously finished a Half Marathon back in 2019 with a time of 1:42:43. Four years later, I now aim to completely knock it down by finishing it under 1:30:00. My training so far has been largely positive, and (at the time of writing) I'm starting to feel confident 6 weeks away from the race! Keep up with my training by following me on Strava.
Finally, thanks again for taking your time to visit my fundraising page. I would really appreciate any amount of donations made by you - every penny counts! And if you are a UK tax payer, don't forget to tick the GiftAid box so that your donation is increased by 25% for free!
