Six brave souls are about to undertake the challenge of a lifetime in aid of BAA's charity of the year, chosen by BAA employees: Help for Heroes.
Help for Heroes was founded by Bryn and Emma Parry in October 2007 out of a desire to help the wounded Servicemen and women returning from Afghanistan and Iraq. The message of the charity is simple: We are strictly non political and non critical; we simply want to help. We believe that anyone who volunteers to serve in time of war, knowing that they may risk all, is a hero.
These are ordinary people doing extraordinary things and some of them are living with the consequences of their service for life. We may not be able to prevent our soldiers from being wounded, but together we can help them get better.

What’s the challenge?
6 BAA employees are about to cycle the entire length of Great Britain by road (874 miles – 1,407 km) AND climb the Three Peaks on way ; the three highest mountains in the UK with an accumulated climbing distance of 3407 meters (ouch!)
Starting at John o’ Groats at the north eastern part of Great Britain, situated at the extreme northern point of Scotland, 5 cyclists and one driver will travel the length of the UK to Lands End which is situated in Western Cornwall at the end of the Penwith Peninsula, to the extreme southwest of Great Britain. En route from one end of the great isle to another, we will climb Mt. Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England, and Mt. Snowdon in Wales.
A journey spanning 10 days and 874 miles with an accumulated climb of 3407 meters - this is destined to be a memorable feat.
When’s the marathon?
12th July – 22th July
Having equipped ourselves with a set of ordinary bikes and sheer determination, we are hoping to complete this journey and have a have a good time on the way… and hopefully collect some sponsor money on the way!
