Story
On 1st January 2021, I set out to run 31 days in a row in an inflatable sumo suit with the chilly challenge of a speedo dash along the way. 100 freezing days and lots of warm showers later, I had raised £14,000 for Mental health charity, CALM!
Whilst out running, I regularly saw 'Fancy Dress Jess' running too! She was running 5km daily too in some incredible costumes and raising awareness and donations for both 'Beauty with a purpose' and 'North West Air Ambulance'. Along the way, we teamed up for a few runs and encouraged each other through the many miles we covered! We also discovered that the daily running became oddly enjoyable and quite the challenge.
This year, we have teamed up and plan to top last year! We will be running everyday - Jess in her fab costumes and myself with a pair of speedos.
I will begin by running with clothes on and speedos on top, at £500 I will lose the clothes, at £1,000 I will cycle around the city and at £2,000 I will go for a swim in the docks! My fate is in your hands!
In early December I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, a condition that is going have a huge impact on my life but something I am determined to embrace and control. It will add an additional challenge to my running, but I hope to spread a positive message and understand it better throughout - sharing the difficulties and my new experiences. All donations towards Diabetes UK for this challenge will be used to support research into type 1 diabetes!
I look forward to meeting many of you and seeing some smiles!
