We support women facing gender based crimes to find empowerment and be educated

Story

Hello! My name is Jess and I'll be running 5km a day everyday of March in fancy dress in order to raise money for One Woman at a Time! #FancyDressJess

I'm 25 and studying Aerospace Engineering at the University of Liverpool. Before taking on my degree I modelled internationally, and still do part time around everything as and when I can. I'm a massive STEM advocate, especially interested in helping young girls realise the exciting opportunities a career in STEM can lead to. These days a lot of teens are prioritising their focus on their social media - validating themselves through how successful their posts are and comparing their looks to unattainable standards set by instagram beauty filters, and as a consequence of this they're missing out on their true potential! Acquiring knowledge is so much more rewarding than conforming to ever changing beauty standards, so I'm running around Liverpool in silly outfits to prove it!

My mantra coincides with the beliefs and work that the charity does, educating young girls from disadvantaged backgrounds at risk of gender based crimes in the UK, Kenya and India as to how they can create a better, sustainable lifestyle for themselves and their community through education.

I'll be running around Liverpool throughout March in fancy dress and would massively grateful for your support!

We are a UK charity that supports girls and women fleeing gender based crimes predominantly in Kenya but also in India and the UK. Every penny counts when it comes to educating the girls in Kenya and giving them the opportunity to become role models when saying no to gender based crimes.
