We stand for everyone affected by dementia to find a cure

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Alongside my fiancé Ellie, her Grandad Harry, and Uncle David, (three generations of the Newton/Williams family) I will be running the 2023 TCS London Marathon and raising money for Alzheimer's Research UK.  It is a charity very close to our hearts and we will be running in memory of Ellie's Nana Josie who suffered with Alzheimer's for 10 years before sadly passing away in 2020.

Here are a few statistics showing the prevalence of dementia in our society:

  • 944,00 people are estimated to be living with dementia in the UK.
  • More than one million people will have dementia by 2030, and this will increase to more than 1.6 million by 2050.
  • Globally, the numbers of people living with dementia will increase from 55m in 2020 to 79m in 2030 and 139m in 2050.

We are hoping to raise as much money as possible for Alzheimer's Research UK to aid their vital research for a cure, prevention, and treatment.

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit our page, read our story and donate - it means so much. Right, off to train for 26.2 miles around London!
